Prompt 1: Everyday Life

[A nondescript man pats down his pockets, frowns, and then heads your way with purpose.]

So . . . Don't suppose I could get a smoke off of you?

Prompt 2: I Can't Believe It's Not Thusia

[Your character has died! And then . . . woken up in some cold stone room full of weird shrines??? Plus some strange dude is sitting next to you, puffing lightly on a cigarette.]

Oh, you're awake? Then welcome back to the land of the living. Or to the land of the re-living. Still not sure how the terminology works there.

Prompt 3: You Make Up A Scenario

[ The man he approaches doesn't appear particularly interested in conversing with him, as he flips through a magazine, making critical noises here and there at the trash that passes for reading nowadays. He's dressed in a fine black business suit, with a dark red tie that would match his eyes, were they not skillfully hidden behind a tinted pair of reading glasses, which turns them to a darker brown instead. True to form, he also sports a pair of black gloves that look as though they were just purchased (maybe a few decades ago). The silver chain of a pocket watch also peeks out of the corner of his suit pocket.

To a human, he would hardly seem out of the ordinary. But to someone like Barakiel, there might be a sense of more than meets the eye. Especially the slight scent of fresh fire about him, a muted version of what one would find around a fireplace. ]

[yeah Barakiel can totes sense that he's a demon. a fire demon. wonderful.

otoh Barakiel really wants a smoke. NEEDS MUST.]

Hey, hey, I asked you a question.

[ Takes his time in turning, clearly annoyed at being pulled away from his mental shredding of the periodicals. ]

I do hope it was an important one.

[since you are a demon! your ~infernal sight~ will be able to see that this nondescript man in fact has a lot of weird magic circles and sigils on his bare skin; they cover his bare hands and forearms (where his sleeves have been rolled up) and seem to continue up his arms and peek up around his neck over the collar of his shirt. His face is free, the rest of his body is covered in clothes.]

Don't suppose I could bum a smoke off of you?

[ Tavores' eyes darken beneath his shades. This is the last thing he needs to deal with today. ]

What makes you think I would indulge the request of one of theirs? Particularly one with such recognizable markings.

What I am wasn't going to be a secret to you anyway so I don't know why you're making such a fuss about visible evidence . . .

I was referring how your reputation precedes you.

Then why are you wandering about?

I'm trying to bum a smoke off someone.

A smoke? That's all?

Mine are gone . . . And I need a smoke to figure out how to get more.

Shouldn't I get something out of this as well? Especially if I am to lend you my power.

I'm just asking if you have a cigarette. Or a cigar. I'm not picky.

Pipes might be a little awkward though.

I have no reason to smoke.

[ Snaps fingers so a little flame appears at their tips, a shape like a gazing eye wavering within it ]

Isn't that the cliche or something . . . fire demons like to smoke, because fire and burning . . . something . . .

[ The flame slowly shrinks back down until it is small black cigarette ]

Perhaps those boors who have no respect for their own source.

I don't. It's a disgusting habit. But as these things are born of fire, they fall under my domain.

. . . Pretty sure tobacco comes from the earth? So does paper . . .

I don't make the rules. It's the association. I imagine it would be different if it was the chewing sort.

Well, as long as I can smoke it, I don't care where it came from.

[reaches for it!]

[ Moves hand with cigarette out of reach ]

I still expect payment. I can't break the rules. Nothing is given freely.

Well I can't mug anyone until it gets dark . . . Can't I have one on credit for now?

[ Tavores gives him a withered look. It's not like he can trust him. But then again, he doesn't want to be hounded about this for any longer than necessary. ]
