[A nondescript man pats down his pockets, frowns, and then heads your way with purpose.]

So . . . Don't suppose I could get a smoke off of you?

Prompt 2: I Can't Believe It's Not Thusia

[Your character has died! And then . . . woken up in some cold stone room full of weird shrines??? Plus some strange dude is sitting next to you, puffing lightly on a cigarette.]

Oh, you're awake? Then welcome back to the land of the living. Or to the land of the re-living. Still not sure how the terminology works there.

The gods of this world ran out of mortals so they bring in formerly deceased ones to pick up the slack.

[wethrinaer]

Ah, and here they've brought in a terribly lazy one.

[he finally sits up and runs a hand through his hair] And what world is this, pray tell?

Seems like they leave it up to chance to decide who gets brought in.

And it's called Thusia.

[wethrinaer]

Chance? [he snorts] Not the greatest of methods.

[jarredforlife]

Well, they are desperate.

[wethrinaer]

One would think, then, they'd have something of a screening process on those who they decide to bring in, at the very least.

[I mean, this guy has committed some serious genocide and they let him in? Geez, low standards]

[jarredforlife]

[yeah Barakiel isn't sure why they brought him in either...]

You would think that, wouldn't you. It's the heroic types who jump in to save the day and everything, right . . .

As far as I'm aware! I don't know for sure, I make sure to give those types a wide berth.

Well, I'm not exactly a heroic type myself.

A criminal, then?

No, just not a hero.

Ah, and here I thought a person was either or.

But my worldview! It's crumbling to pieces as we speak.

Feel free to take some time to pull yourself back together, then.

I don't know if I have the heart to bother.

Good, because I'm not very good at being comforting.

Perhaps we should just skip that part, then. Fair enough?

Something far more interesting, maybe? I'm quite over this "brought back to life" rubbish now.

There's not much of interest here other than the gods and survival, at the moment . . .

I can't really recommend exploring beyond the building, either.

[wethrinaer]

That's all there is, huh.

[he tilts his head, though, and shoots a brief glance to the door] And why is that?

[jarredforlife]

Well, a couple dozen people rebuilding a whole planet does take some time . . .

For the second part, it's because everything in the jungle beyond the building is poisonous, carnivorous, or both.

[wethrinaer]

One would think they'd prepare for our arrivals a little better. All work and no play, as they say . . .

[there's a beat] Ah. So I'm inviting death to take me again should I wander out there unarmed.

More or less. There are ways to be brought back if you die, but that requires someone willing to pay for it . . . and if no one days, the gods can just bring more people in.
